    Philippe Boullé

    After obtaining his Licence en droit et sciences économiques and his degree from the Institut d’études politiques in Paris, Philippe Boullé returned to Mauritius to take up the posts of Secretary General of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Economic Advisor at the Mauritius Commercial Bank. He then joined the United Nations in New York as Chief of the Financial Assistance Unit for African Least Developed Countries, then as Director a.i of the UN General Assembly Department. He was stationed in Jordan after the invasion of Kuwait by Irak, working with with IOM, UNICEF, and UNDP to coordinate the return home of 750 000 third-country nationals fleeing from Kuwait. He was also Director of the New York Office for Disaster Relief before moving to the United Nations Office in Geneva as Deputy Director of the Department of Humanitarian Affairs then as Director of the UN Disaster Risk Reduction office. After leaving the UN, Philippe Boullé worked in Paris with the Association Française pour la Prévention des Catastrophes Naturelles, in Washington D.C with the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, and as senior consultant with The Indian Ocean Commission on risk reduction programmes.
