Shatyam Issur
Shatyam is a human rights advocate whose career focuses on harm reduction, social & mental well-
being, and HIV prevention & treatment for priority populations (People who use/inject drugs, sex
workers, LGBTQIA+ community, and people living with HIV). Currently at the age of 25, Shatyam is
the director of the Collectif Urgence Toxida, a local NGO that provides harm reduction services to
people who use drugs and sits as NGO representative on the Global Fund Country Coordinating
mechanism of Mauritius. Recently, Shatyam has also been elected as board member at the local
community-based organization AILES and is mandated on the Long-acting technologies community
advisory board (LAT CAB) of the Treatment Action Group (TAG). As a firm believer of youth
empowerment and leadership, Shatyam was selected to participate in the One Young World Annual
Summit 2022 in Manchester. Additionally, Shatyam also completed his master’s degree (LLM) in
corporate law with a distinction from the University of Mauritius.
