Dr Jay Rovisham Singh Doorga, an Oxford-trained author and consultant, is currently lecturer at Université des Mascareignes. With an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford, a PhD in GIS - Modelling and Forecasting, and a BSc in Physics from the University of Mauritius, his expertise spans across critical environmental issues. Honored with prestigious awards such as the University of Oxford ECM Award and the Cambridge Outstanding Achievement Award, Dr. Doorga has over 35 peer-reviewed publications and one book with over 750 citations. His influential research in coastal ocean management, disaster risk management, climate change, and renewable energy shapes policy climates in Africa, bridging scientific energy and climate issues with policymaking. As a participant in international consultancies and national projects, he has addressed flood risk management in Mauritius, sea level rise in Seychelles, Comoros, and Mauritius, and climate mitigation and adaptation in small islands globally. Dr. Doorga also holds a patent for a wave energy prototype, and his work, featured in Forbes, the University of Oxford, and the Daily Maverick, continues to impact multilateral financial institutions, global think tanks, and policymakers, fostering sustainable change across Africa.
