Fiona Grant
Fiona Grant is a lecturer of Psychology at the University of Mauritius. She graduated with a Maitrise in Organizational Psychology from Université René Descartes - Paris 5 in France. She went on to complete a Master of Arts in Social Psychology and Program Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University. Finally, she received a PhD in Psychology and Health from the same institution in California, USA.
Her research is at the intersection of self and social identity, and examines how individuals derive a sense of self from the social groups they belong to (e.g.: nationality, profession, ethnicity…) and how these group memberships shape how we see ourselves and others.
She also studies social identity processes in health contexts, specifically the role of group membership in health promotion and exercise behavior. Finally, she conducts research on social identity complexity and how people cope with multiple identities during times of uncertainty.
