Vencatesen Ponin (Visen) is a resident of Mauritius where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biology in 2005. He pursued an MSc in Education for Sustainability (with distinction) with the London South Bank University from 2014-2016. He is a recipient of the UK African Commonwealth Scholarship and the Australia Awards Africa in 2019. He completed a short course in Climate Change Adaptation at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2019. 

He is currently a PhD Candidate at the Université des Mascareignes (UDM), Mauritius, where his doctoral research examines how religion and spirituality influence environmental attitudes and behaviours from an environmental psychology perspective. His research interests lie at the intersection of religion, spirituality, environmentalism, sustainability, and psychological processes underlying human–nature relationships. In his spare time, he enjoys pondering existential questions and reflecting on the deeper meanings of life.
